Michael Runge is the City Archivist and Collections Manger for the City of Deadwood and Deadwood Historic Preservation Commission since 2002. During his tenure, Runge has been actively involved in preserving and interpreting Deadwood’s rich and diverse history through a wide array of projects, interpretive signs, traveling exhibits and exhibitions. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point with degrees in History and Anthropology. Before coming to Deadwood, Runge worked several years as a field archaeologist in Arizona, Iowa, and North and South Dakota.
