Days of 76 Museum
The Days of ’76 Museum located at 18 76 Drive refers to 1876, the year gold was discovered in Deadwood Gulch and the legendary city was born. The museum is connected to the Days of ’76 Celebration, a historic annual parade and a PRCA award-winning rodeo that began in 1924.
Dedicated and funded in part by the Deadwood Historic Preservation Commission in 2012, Deadwood’s newest museum is the repository for the Days of ’76 organization, as well as early Deadwood documents, historic photographs and objects from the Donald Clowser Collection, owned by the City fo Deadwood. The museum operated by Deadwood History, Inc. also houses a large collection of horse drawn wagons, stage coaches and carriages used during the annual Days’ parade.
