DARE/ School Resource Officers

The Deadwood Police Department has taught the D.A.R.E. program in the Lead-Deadwood School District since 1989.  Currently, the Department teaches D.A.R.E. to the fifth grade students at the Lead-Deadwood Elementary School.  The Department also teaches the Junior High program at the Lead-Deadwood Middle School to the seventh grade students.

The Deadwood Police Department has two School Resource Officers. Officer Brandon Webb works primarily with the Lead-Deadwood High School and Middle School. Officer Sonya Papousek primarily works with the Lead-Deadwood Elementary School. They conduct law enforcement duties with juveniles on school property during school hours or school-sanctioned events. The School Resource Officers strive to be a positive resource for the Lead-Deadwood community.
