About Us
The Deadwood Public Library has warmly welcomed community members and visitors to its Carnegie building since 1905. Serving the residents of Deadwood and Lawrence County, the library is committed to providing a place where our community can experience life-long learning, community connection, and continue to grow through access to our collections, resources, services, and programs.
The library serves all ages, all backgrounds, all information needs. Children can enjoy our special offerings including a summer reading program and after-school club. Young adults will discover a quality selection of books while college and online students can take advantage of our proctoring services. From free Wi-Fi to free computer access the library serves your technological needs. Databases allow access to everything from local historical newspapers to Ancestry.com.
The Library houses the Centennial Archives, a historic photo and archival collection, and is home to the South Dakota Room which contains both historic and current information about Deadwood, the Black Hills and the State. Beyond the walls of the library, your library card opens the door to a vast collection of eBooks, audiobooks and videos.
