The Deadwood Police Department is currently seeking exceptional people to provide outstanding service to the community.  Essential duties include Duties related to the enforcement of Federal, State and Local Laws and Ordinances; protection of life and property and public assistance; develop proactive plans within the department and in partnership with the community of Deadwood.  Benefits include health insurance, dental, SD Retirement, paid vacation, sick leave, and personal days.  Starting wage DOE. 

Applicants must be willing to work a flexible schedule, be over 21 years of age and have or be able to obtain a valid South Dakota driver’s license.  Successful applicants will be required to pass a thorough background investigation and pre-employment drug screen.  

Certified officers are preferred but not mandatory.  Un-certified officers must be certified within one year of hire. Starting wage for uncertified officers is $23.22.  Starting wage for certified officers is $25.79.  Successful applicant must comply with the residency policy.  Position is open until filled.  South Dakota LET applications are available at the Deadwood Police Department and must be submitted to Chief Cory Shafer, 100 Sherman Street, Deadwood, SD 57732.  The City of Deadwood is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
