American Legion Homestake Post 31 meets on the 3rd Wednesday of every month at 6:00 PM. Meetings are held in the basement of the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Lead at 6pm.

In the aftermath of the devastating stock market crash of 1929 and the impending warnings of what would become the Great Depression, William Emery Adams personally financed the building of the Adams Museum. Upon completion of the project in 1930, he generously donated the museum to the City of Deadwood. This single museum eventually grew into a nonprofit organization, Deadwood History, Inc.

The 1914 building was built by Phoebe Hearst and the Homestake Gold Mine and survived a devastating theater fire in 1984. Today, the opera house hosts 40 presentations, tours, and ARTS/CULTURE events every year, while restoration continues throughout the structure.

Meets at 7p.m. on 1st & 3rd Thursdays, except June, July & Aug, then 3rd Thursday only, at 696 Main Street Deadwood SD. Members club is open Thursday thru Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m., sometimes later. (When neon "Elks" sign is on we are open). E.R. Kevin Fravel and his corps of officers invite all Elks to visit.

The Hearst Free Library was presented to the City of Lead and its residents on behalf of Phoebe Apperson Hearst, wife of mining magnate George Hearst, on December 25, 1894. The original collection had hundreds of foreign language books to accommodate the vast and varied ethnic groups that populated Lead during the Homestake Mining Company’s heyday.

The Lead Rifle & Pistol Club provides and maintains shooting facilities to promote and encourage the responsible use of firearms and sportsmanship through a variety of shooting sports. We have an emphasis on gun safety and the continuation of quality of life, liberty, and freedom. The Lead Rifle and Pistol Club indoor shooting range is located in the basement of the historic Homestake Opera House.

The Lead-Deadwood Area Lions practice the Lion’s motto, “We Serve”. We are a part of numerous programs, projects and support our community throughout. All of our programs are made possible through club fund raising.
Twin Cities Area Senior Citizens
Potluck on 2nd Monday of the month at noon at the Christian Ministry Center. Games and cards on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month at 1pm.
