Mount Moriah Cemetery Trail

Mount Moriah Cemetery Trail meanders through the historic cemetery which was established in 1878. A companion trail map is available at the Mt. Moriah Cemetery Ticket Booth. The cemetery has approximately 3,400 individuals buried here, including some of North America’s most famous western legends, miners, madams, lawmen, politicians… and even a pet parrot. 

The trails points of interest cannot summarize the life stories of everyone buried here but does touch on a few noted individuals because of their historical importance, or the special or unusual stories surrounding their lives. You’ll be walking among the graves of Deadwood residents. Please be respectful as you explore this cemetery. The tour marks suggested points of interest, but you’re welcome to observe other areas. When doing so, please stay on pathways when possible.
